Richard Farmer – Founder
Richard has studied with some of the leading teachers and masters of Tai Chi, meditation and healing in the world. He’s founder of the nationwide Rising Dragon Tai Chi School (RDTC) and has both taught and practised his craft for 35 years. During this time, Richard has introduced Tai Chi and Chi Kung movements to patients with a variety of health conditions, as well as the general public. His most recent introductions have been at:

As a respected expert, Richard has also written numerous articles on Tai Chi Chuan and has contributed to TV and radio documentaries and interviews, including BBC1, ITV and BBC Radio Wales. For services to Tai Chi in the UK, Richard was made Honorary President of the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain. He has also taught courses and seminars in France, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Slovenia and the USA.
Dr David A Quinn BSc MSc ClinPsyD CPsychol AFBPsS – Co-Founder
Dr David Quinn worked as Joint Head of Profession and Head of the Department of Health Psychology with the National Health Service in Herefordshire. He’s also the founder of Halliday-Quinn Limited.
A qualified Clinical Psychologist, David achieved his Masters Degree at the University of Birmingham in 1985 and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2002. He’s also a British Psychological Society National Assessor in Neuropsychology; an HPC Chartered Clinical and Health Psychologist; and a Senior Foundation Member on the BPS Register of Psychotherapy.
As a Motivational Interviewing National Trainer (MINT), David has founded Brain Injury day treatment Programmes in Worcestershire and Herefordshire. He has also developed a county-wide programme for enhanced self-management of long term health conditions across Herefordshire. David is a keen Tai Chi practitioner and has been practising within the Rising Dragon tradition for ten years.
Marigold Farmer – Co-Founder & Lead Teacher
Marigold originally trained as a Primary School Teacher and Administrator, and in her early 30s, changed direction to become a Teacher of the Alexander Technique. She subsequently developed a body-based approach to Stress Management which she offered extensively to those in the caring professions.
The birth of Tai Chi Movements for Wellbeing provided the perfect opportunity to combine her teaching and administrative skills, and a fresh outlet for her experience of working with those in the caring professions.
Marigold has developed the TMW training syllabus and produced the wealth of support materials central to each trainee’s journey. She is a TMW Lead Teacher and also offers TMW classes within her local Community.
Andrea Bailey – Lead Teacher
Andrea has been exploring Tai Chi since 1996 and qualified as a Rising Dragon Tai Chi (RDTC) Teacher in 2005 with Richard Farmer, founder of RDTC School and TMW Training. Her interest and study of mindfulness in movement and meditation led to further qualifications as a Soul Moves Facilitator in 2011 and a Tai Chi Movements for Wellbeing Trainer in 2012.
For the last 4 years she has been delivering the TMW Foundation Training, leading CPD days and supporting the TMW community. As Development Manager for TMW Training Ltd, she is working on programmes to offer further learning opportunities to existing TMW Trainers and exploring ways to raise the profile of TMW.
Andrea also teaches classes in Bristol with an enthusiasm, through movement/ mindfulness, to share the deep wisdom and simplicity that creates change and greater happiness in people’s daily lives.
